Lisa Mory: Council candidate responses

Lisa Morry responded publicly on Facebook.

Hi Jamie: Thank you for this, however, with days to go until the first advance poll, I’m answering multiple, comprehensive questionnaires from groups and organizations, as well as preparing for debates and spending as much time door knocking as possible. I can give you some answers to your questions.

1. Food security, climate resilience and land-use rules

I’m in favour of growing food rather than grass. I definitely have some ideas about how to increase food security. I would start a discussion about different models that are already out there.

2. The right to air-dry laundry

Everyone should have the right to dry clothes and I’m in favour of creating or changing bylaws to allow for this.

3. Recycling and organics in multi-unit buildings

I’m in favour of stratas using organics and recyclables collection. My own strata does this and I would advocate for other stratas to follow this example.

4. The drug poisoning crisis

I’m in favour of supportive housing and treatment options for when people are ready for treatment. The city has done a good job of working with other government levels to build some supportive housing and I would continue that work. However, Chilliwack can’t do this alone. The federal and provincial governments have to step up.

5. Wildfire smoke and indoor air quality

I’m concerned about indoor air quality to deal with wildfire smoke and disease. I would advocate for schools and other institutions should have cleaner air.
