A question for school board candidates: AI literacy
Having spent the last few years working in AI adoption at the provincial government level, I have developed a deep understanding of how artificial intelligence is changing how we work and learn. I want to know how our schools will help children and youth prepare for those changes.
To me, AI literacy means more than knowing how to use an AI tool. It means understanding its strengths and limits, checking its outputs, protecting personal information, and knowing when to use your own judgment. These skills matter for further education, future employment, and participation in our community.
My question for candidates
If elected, what will you do during your four-year term to help ensure children and youth develop the AI literacy and critical thinking skills they need for a changing world of work?
For anyone wanting a crash course in digital approaches to teaching and how AI can support learning, the keynote below is well worth watching.
