Food security, climate resilience and land-use rules<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Food security is important to me. I am not familiar with any rules that would prohibit the creation of community gardens but if that is the case I would welcome the opportunity to look at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ideally there would be space on the property to provide boxes for tenants but not all buildings have a large enough footprint. Typically individual plots for people are located in a secure place within the property. I grow my vegetables on my balcony where I live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. The right to air-dry laundry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stratas are legislated by the Provincial government under the Strata Property Act.\u00a0 I have never lived in a strata where you can air dry clothes.\u00a0 Every strata is different and the best advice I have would be to get elected to the strata. That is the only way to have a say on building rules.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Recycling and organics in multi-unit buildings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think that recycling\/organic collection should be consistent all across our community. Multi unit buildings should have to recycle in the same way as the rest of the city served by city waste collection. I would be willing to push for that. We all need to be part of the solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. The drug poisoning crisis<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city has built lots of housing first projects in partnership with the provincial government. You are right that the issue has to be addressed by all levels of government. I will continue to advocate for the promised detox and rehab facilities. Without them we will never see an improvement in addiction.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Wildfire smoke and indoor air quality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smoke in our environment requires better forest management. I would support building code changes while trying to balance the cost of housing. Any changes to existing buildings would have to come from the provincial government. As a city we only have so much power to persuade the provincial government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My highest priority is addiction and mental health.
